I THINK I'M GONNA LIVE

I finally feel like I am going to live. NO I am no being a drama queen! I have been really sick. Sunday I got a migraine that didn't leave until the wee hours of Monday morning. So Monday I felt like a slug all day. Tuesday I wake up feeling upset in my stomach and hurting in my back which proceeded to get worse until the heaving started. It went all through the night. I felt like I was hit by truck all day and now at midnight I am starting to feel like I am going to make it. I was worried that I was having trouble with my kidney(s) again. I guess once you have had a bad time you always have that worry.
On another note: since mom had to take care of Dalton for me (Denny has a sprained ankle) she stated that Dalton had mentioned Buckie and some other name that she could not remember who he claims is Buckie's friend. Buckie lives!!

WHERE IS BUCKIE?

Where is Buckie? I guess you may be asking who is Buckie? Buckie is/was Dalton's imaginary bull. Yes, I said bull. Remember we lived on a small farm. Dalton has played farm from the time he could walk and talk. Sometimes Buckie was not imaginary. He was right there. He was a book or a toy or anything else he could get his hands on to call Buckie. We had a real bull named Buck. I guess Dalton needed one to call his own and one he could get his hands on. Our living room (at the old house) as had so many barn stalls and electric fences running thru it! I just realized last night that it had been a while since I heard Dalton talk about Buckie. This may be the end to his imaginary friend Buckie. Please pass another tissue. :(

OUR SON THE COMEDIAN

I wish everyone could see Dalton's sense of humor. It comes right out of no where and hits ya when you least expect it. I am going to tell you about today's funny-with a bit of what happened previously before it all happened.
Back when we had our farm and had horses and I rode horses, I bought a pair of spurs for my boots. I think I wore them once and couldn't stand to use them on the horse so they went on a shelf because they are pretty and decorative. I now use them as decoration in our half bath because that is my cowboy themed room. Dalton had them the other day and asked Denny what they were. Denny told him "they are your mom's she used to be a cowgirl." And he left it at that. NOTHING ELSE HAS BEEN SAID ABOUT IT SINCE. Today Dalton says "dad, mom used to wear these when she was a cowgirl?" Denny said "yea she rode bulls." Dalton came back with a chuckle and said "GRANNY BULLS" That funny little snot! I've been on a bucking horse before and I was thrown off. Not by choice.
Dalton stays so reserved around other people and most do not get the chance to see him open up like he does at home. What a shame.

WHAT A GREAT WEEK

Our first week of Kindergarten is done and over with and he can't wait to start his second! yipee! He came to me this morning to tell me that after tomorrow is school again! I am blessed to have a child who likes school and judging from the smiley faces he is doing well. He says he plays with girls mostly and he has 2 girlfriends: Aubrey and some girl in his class. aww how sweet
I would like to be a fly on the wall just for one day from the time he gets out of the car until the time he gets back in. Why? Because he says he can't remember what all he does at school. I expected these kind of answers when he gets older but HELLO Kindergarten?
I don't think I have mentioned that I joined the PTO. Yep, I've joined the PTO. I'm a member of the PTO. That is all I can say about it because I have no idea what it is all about. LOL But is sure seemed like the thing to do. I am waiting for instructions on what it is the PTO does.

IST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN 08/18/08

Ok, I guess you can tell I had to make some adjustments to my blog because I accidentally made it non secure for my child. This blog either has a glitch or isn't clear on how to take out a picture once it is posted so I had to delete the original blog on the first day of Kindergarten and re-do it but it will not let me put it back where it belongs. If anyone else knows how to do these things please tell me.
Dalton loved his first day of school. He said he has the best school ever and he loves his teacher. What a relief!! And I did pretty well myself! lol

DAY FOUR AND ALL IS WELL

It is day four in the life of a Kindergartner and everything seems to be great. He still loves his school and teacher and he comes home with smiley faces on his work every day. It is hard to get him to talk about his day. Dalton will first say I can't remember and then when we keep asking him questions I guess it starts to come back to him. On Tuesday Dalton said "I was so mad today!" When we questioned why he said "there was this boy who got into trouble and was sent to time out and then he spit all over the walls! FOR NO GOOD REASON!" While biting the insides of my cheeks trying to control my laughter over his theatrics I had to ask "why did that make you mad?" At this point his face is all scrawled up, his hands going 90 mph while he is talking (wonder where he got that from?) and his eye brows are moving up and down with his gestures. He claimed that the little boy didn't need to do that and it was gross. ahhhhh one more day I'm glad I can say "thank goodness it wasn't my child!"

WE (I) MADE IT THRU THE FIRST DAY

Ok, so I have emotionally drained myself. It wasn't on purpose. It just happened. I guess I should be thankful Dalton has a late birthday..I have had 6 years to prepare for this instead of 5. I picked up Dalton at school and he wouldn't let me take any more pictures. :-( That little stinker! I told him I couldn't wait to get home and hug and kiss him and he said"mom do ya always have to be doing that to me?" ugh!!!! He is in Kindergarten 1 day and he has lost his affection?????? I was told to hang on to it as long as I could because boys get to where they don't want to show any "mushiness" toward anyone. Thank goodness when we got home he had a memory lapse and showered me with hugs and kisses!!!!!! That's my boy! Dalton said this really is the best school ever! And I can't forget to mention that my wonderful neighbor Dana, who is the speech pathologist (I think) checked in and talked with Dalton at lunch and gave me a call to let me know he was doing great. aaahhhhhhh That really made me feel good. I spent as much time as possible away from the house today in hopes that I wouldn't sit and cry all day. I managed to get a few things done like get my truck and bug their new Ar. tags and my drivers license changed. Thank you state of Arkansas for changing the laws on out of state transfers! lol That was for you honey!!

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION

Last night was Kindergarten orientation. I was so nervous. Dalton was not. It lasted about an hour and a half. Daltons teacher seems like she is going to be great and apparently Dalton thinks so too. On our way to the car Dalton was jumping around and his said "I have the best school in the whole wide world!" That was music to my ears. We are going back today so we can go through the school again so he can see where his class is and the other important things like...the bathroom, lunch room and library. There were so many people there last night that I am afraid he was so distracted and not paying attention as to where we were going. His building has K-3 in it and there are over 500 kids in that building alone. I think his class only has 18 or 19 in it but there are 8 Kindergarten classes. They seem to get all kinds of govt. grants and they put them to good use.(I assume this I do not know it for a fact) Just for the K-3 bldg. alone they have a computer lab, science lab, electric keyboards, and they still do the things that some schools have cut out like music, art, and PE. Since it has been so many moons ago since I was in school and this is our one and only child to start school this all sounds like a great start to me! Oh, and Dalton said the playground is really cool too!
Now the countdown to Monday begins. Denny said he figured I wouldn't get any sleep this weekend.......wrong o buddy.........it started last night. I had a nightmare that woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep and I so wanted to so I could try to get back in my dream and change it!!!! ugh it was awful. The gym coach brainwashed him and he ran away from us. When we found him the coach had him dressed in little girl clothes. eewwwwww And since he was brain washed he didn't want to come with me. So I had to get out a gun.....and well I think we all know what happens from there. So awful. We all know I don't like guns. I think I need to go rent a stack of the funniest movies ever made. Feel free to make suggestions! I have 3 more nights to get to Monday. You know...I have been real flaky all week too. I think it has been the lead to my nightmares and it could only get worse. Ladies, it has been worse than the "pregnancy stupids." If you have ever been prego you know what I mean. While I was pregnant with lil D I had those dreams where you drive off with your kid on top of the car, left the kid in a shopping cart, forgot to feed it etc. and I have done NONE of those things so I know this has got to be the curse of the hormones but it really stinks!

TOADIES

Dalton doesn't have brothers and sisters....he has toadies!LOL There is not a day that goes by that he doesn't go out and catch one of these poor helpless critters and use it as a friend. It just so happens that he thought this "TOADIE" wanted to go boogie boarding in his pool. Can you see the terror in his eyes??

DAY TRIP TO HOT SPRINGS

OK, So I am a little behind in my entries. We took a day trip to Hot Springs on Saturday. We were looking to do some of the touristy stuff like putt putt golf etc. Things that Dalton wanted to do. We knew he would not want to tour the bath houses or go into shops so our expectations were that of a 5 year old. Woo hoo it's about time cause this is right up my alley!!!! Hot Springs is only about 70 miles from here but it is like a pig trail getting there so it took about 1 1/2 hours to get there. Our first adventure was putt putt golf. Who doesn't like putt putt?!! The last time we did this with Dalton he was only three and it was so tiring! He was all over the place including climbing on the props and helping other golfers get their balls in the hole. Note the reason it has been 2 years since we have done this. But, this time Dalton was AWESOME! He was scoring 2's and some 3's. We didn't let him cheat either-we are trying to get him to understand there are rules to games that you have to follow and there is an appropriate sportsmanship to have also.

The next thing we did was ride the "Ducks". But it wasn't that easy. We asked Dalton if he wanted to ride one of those, pointing to one of the Ducks as it went by, and he said "no that's ok you guys go ahead." As if we would just leave him sitting there on the sidewalk until we got back!!!! After about 15 minutes of going around and around that he was not old enough to be left alone he said he would ride it and he had a really good time.
Then last but not least we went to an arcade where we played video games and Dalton and I rode the go-carts. In between all of this there was eating and driving around checking out how things have changed over the past 14 years.

READY FOR KINDERGARTEN

Yes, I can now say we are ready for Kindergarten. Just technically, in my mind I still want my little boy here at home with me. My real point is Dalton had his physical today-shots and all! Dalton got 4 shots to be exact and he did not shed a tear!!! He was such a brave little fella. He had his "oh I wanna cry but I don't wanna look like a baby" face on. He said mom that really did hurt. But the nurse gave him one sucker for every shot and I told him he could have ice cream and a toy. He picked out a snow cone and a remote control scoop/backhoe thingy tractor. You know something to dig a trench or scoop up gravel. Thank goodness that is over and I survived. I have been running around here for days talking about him getting a S-H-O-T. Worried that I would get faint seeing them stick my little guy with a needle-well that is what happens when I get a shot. Yes I have been spelling it out and by the next time he needs shots he will be able to spell. haha what will I do?? He weighs 50 lbs. and is 47 & 1/2 inches tall-almost 4 feet!!! I need to check up on what the law is for not needing the booster seat. He wants to shed that thing so bad. I'm thinking he has to be at least 60 lbs. This was my day. I don't mean it was a good day I just mean that it is what my day has been centered around. I do have dinner on so I guess I better go tend to it or we will be eating CAJUN tonight. :)

DOCTOR VISIT

I went for my quarterly visit to my Urologist yesterday. I'm still trying to figure out how it went. lol I brought my records from Tn. with me so he wouldn't have to ask me questions that I couln't answer. So much for that. Anyway, he decided to cut out the CT scans that I was getting every 3 months because he was afraid that I was going to glow. That is kinda funny since I now live in a town with a hydro-electric nuclear plant in the middle of it. The doctor did a normal x-ray and was still able to find my stone. He also did some other test and if they are ok I don't have to go back until November. The one thing that he did do was put me on food restrictions!! @%$*#!># He is afraid if I don't restrict some of the foods that I eat that are stone enhancing foods that I will end up with another failed kidney. Strike 2 means your out when it comes to kidneys so I guess I am now on restrictions. I should be able to loose some of this stinking weight now. No salt, no fast food, no dairy, no chocolate, peanuts or strawberries. I am going to wither away!!! Those last 3 are major food groups to me!

PEACHES ANYONE?

I have been trying to come up with some things to do with Dalton this summer that would be memorable. This is a small town so it has been challenging. I woke up monday morning with and idea in my head. I had remembered seeing a sign about a mile from the house that said "orchard". So, lets go pick..whatever it is they are growing...right? X wrong. Now mind you, I had Dalton all hyped up that this was going to be really cool that we were going out into a field of trees to pick some fruit.(not knowing what it was they were growing-it didn't really matter) He was all for it-thinking there would be some tree climbing going on. Of course, wouldn't you? We get there. We are the only ones there. They had bushels of peaches every where. They were quick to slice one up and let us try one. Yummy? yes! But.....we were not allowed to go pick them ourselves. I know , I was shocked too! The little ole farmer lady said that the insurance was so high for them to allow people to do that that they had to stop doing it. We were disappointed even though it was already about 98 degrees out. The little farmer lady went on to tell us how 270 farmers a day loose or have to quit their farms. Needless to say that could have been a bushel of rotten peaches and I would still have bought them. Thank goodness they were not rotten. Mom and I put 9 quarts in the freezer. If you come to my house for dinner you now know what you will probably have for dessert.

MEET PAM, GREG & KIDS THOMAS, MARGARET

WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND

Hello to all! Yes it has been a few days since my last posting. Our trip to Poplar Bluff all went so fast. Then on Friday we had a planned visit from one of my best friends from high school who came with her husband and two children. It has been close to 10 years since I have seen Pam. They live in Oklahoma. We always keep in touch either by phone or email and she is always prompt with holiday cards. (I stink in that department) Pam and Greg's children are Thomas (11) and Emily Margaret (7). Dalton had a great time playing with them and talks about his new friends. We had a great visit but it was way too short and we can't wait to see them again.

We have much to do this week. I will be getting set up with my new Urologist and have some pains that I have been having checked out. Dalton will be having his Kindergarten physical done-not looking forward to that and the shots that go with it. He doesn't know this yet. I thought it would be best if we just didn't talk about it. I would gladly take any advice anyone wants to give in this department. He is such a tough little guy when it comes to falling down, splinters, bumps and bruises but shots are different. I get weak when I get a shot or have blood drawn how can I tell him to be brave???
